GUEST SERVICES

Dear Guest,

Wishing you a very warm welcome to our cottages. Mill View was built on the site of the former Tomatin Inn and has been lovingly decorated in warm tones - we really hope you enjoy your stay here.

We have put together this information brochure to give you some information on the cottage, our estate and the local area.

Kind Regards

Tanya & George Macleod

HISTORY

In 2010, following the demolition of the former Tomatin Inn, country pub, Mill View was born. A development of 10 new homes was created with a new road constructed running parallel to Old Mill Road. At the front of the site, the now vacant land is zoned for a commercial unit - originally planned to house a new community pub and the community shop (now located in the new 'Strathdearn' facility to the south)

1 Mill View is the first house, with the rear of the property overlooking Tomatinard Farmhouse.

HOUSE RULES

As you are staying in the countryside, we ask you to be aware of dangers around the property;

  • There is a burn running adjacent to Old Mill Road

There is an abundance of wildlife in and around Melfort Estate, located off the end of Old Mill Road;

  • Please close the gates when entering/leaving at all times as this keeps our red deer from roaming on to neighbouring land as our neighbours do have stalking rights

  • This will also ensure that Sika Deer aren’t able to nibble the tops of our newly planted trees

  • On your walks, you will be able to spot Red Kites and Grouse ,Golden Eagles, Red Squirrels and plenty rabbits.

DISTILLERY WOOD

You are welcome to explore Distillery Wood during your stay at Mill View Cottage.

Continue up Old Mill Road and follow the road up to the 'Green Gate'

As this is a forest, stalking and tree planting/harvesting may on occasion take place on the northern side of the forest. For this reason, we ask you to stick to main walking pathways as shown on the above map.

Tracks in good condition which are suitable for walkers of all skills are coloured in green.

Tracks which are in poorer condition or have steep inclines have been coloured in red.
